Magnetti Building’s Intervention: Trafilerie Mazzoleni is a historic manufacturer of steel wire and metallurgical products with over a century of history.

For the company’s new headquarters, located in the heart of Bergamo, Magnetti Building created the prefabricated concrete facades.

The project, entrusted to Studio Capitanio Architetti by Remo Capitanio, was built entirely using dry construction methods and is characterized by a simple form, rhythmically marked by alternating light and dark tones and a changing texture depending on the direction of the sun.
The building has no eaves, evokes the appearance of a factory, but is made dynamic by an outer skin in constant motion, characterized by button-like patterns.
Developed on two levels and composed of two 500 m² units, the design incorporated prefabrication systems to reduce execution times to a total of eight months. The structure is made of metal carpentry with a regular frame that influences the arrangement of the facades, while the roof features a system of prefabricated steel cassettes, used for the first time in Italy.
The alternating panels of textured white reinforced concrete and bronze-colored windows give the facade a dominant role in the composition of the volume. Furthermore, the alternating smooth surfaces with acid-etched finishes and beveled surfaces become particularly striking depending on the sun’s position.
The panels were engineered using custom-made molds and alternate with the windows, highlighted by thin reveals and completed with cladding in bronze-colored corrugated sheet metal, designed to compensate for the internal height differences in the intermediate floor slab and roof.

This new building, reconstructed on the original site, houses new administrative offices with an essential character, distinguished by a green iron staircase. The interior features a design where the white finish alternates with the dark tones of the flooring and window frames.

The redevelopment of the multifunctional space at Trafilerie Mazzoleni required dedication, creativity, and the highest level of professionalism to meet the client’s needs and regulatory constraints.

As emphasized by Engineer Fabio Mazzoleni and Architect Remo Capitanio, integrating the new structure into the urban fabric of Bergamo was a complex challenge. However, thanks to a particularly creative and stimulating design process, it was possible to enhance the connection between the building and its surrounding environment, making it an integral part of the urban landscape.

The use of precast concrete played a crucial role in the entire process, ensuring compliance with time and budget constraints while allowing the business to continue operating without interruptions.
